Dashain in Jeppis – Celebrating the Biggest Nepali Festival in Our New Home

Each autumn, Jeppis Nepal transforms a hall in Pietarsaari into a mini Nepal, filled with the sounds of traditional music, the smell of delicious food, and the warmth of community spirit. Dashain, the biggest festival in Nepal, is celebrated with tika, blessings, music, and dance.

Families dress in colorful traditional clothes, children perform dances they’ve practiced for weeks, and elders share stories of how Dashain was celebrated back home. The event isn’t just for the Nepalese community—local Finnish friends often join in, eager to learn about the traditions.

For many, Dashain in Pietarsaari is more than a celebration—it’s a bridge between homeland and new home, keeping the spirit of Nepal alive for future generations.
